Sweet Viburnum is a mult-tasker—as a hedge, screen, shrub—and you ca also see it trained in a tree-like shape. Regardless of how you use it it’s a healthy plant that grows prodigiously and you’ll want to decide, early on, how you want it to grow. It’s good for noise control if you keep the lower branches and does make a nice leafy screen as the growth pattern is a heavy density—good for that purpose.
The dwarf variety is more easily controlled, if you prefer a lower maintenance plant and works much better as a hedge, and, as a fast grower it will soon reach its normal height of around 28 inches. Makes a nice backdrop for low-growing flowers in a bed.
Both varieties need well-drained soil under them, even though they like a somewhat moist soil; just keep them watered and they’ll show well, wherever you place them in a sunny landscape.
